It was in 1995 in Delhi. I was a student of theology in Vidyajyothi, Delhi. On a Sunday afternoon, as I was engaged in refreshing the water in the aquarium at the entrance of the Jesuit community, a car stopped at the entrance. Astonishingly I gazed at three Missionaries of Charity sisters getting out and among them was The Little Saint of Kalkata. She was there before me, and for a moment I was not there with me! Wiping my wet hands on my shorts, I greeted her! Oh God! My palms were too small to hold the HUGE PALM of the Litte Saint. I was aghast! I held her hand in my both hands and bowed before her. But her huge palms! It tells me myriad stories of service to the poor, that this Little Saint extended to the hapless in India. God gave her extraordinary hands, like her loving heart, to reach out in service, to lift up those from the gutters of unwantedness! Her huge palms make me always praise God for the great and unending services she and her sisters do in the world today to those who have no one to reach out to them. Her extraordinarily huge palms are a miriacle for me that God reaches out to the sufferings in the world today.

Mother Teresa inspires me because, one, she reminds me of my grandmother, who was not beautiful but had a beautiful smile. There was so much sorrow in my grandmother's life, it's hard for me to imagine how she had the courage to go on. I think of my lack of courage and gratitude, and remember my grandmother and Mother Teresa's dedication to the poor. I, too, am not afraid of those who are poor. To me, they seem sweet and blessed.

Only God could have preserved my grandmother and her family. My mother is in her 80s now, and we are very blessed. I joined the Catholic church during the time Mother Teresa was alive, and she made me feel that there was a real living saint protecting us. I pray she protects us, still.

I volunteer in a soup kitchen and we feed the unfortunate. I see the face of Jesus on line. He's there in every soul that passes thru. I'm happy to do and hear the Thank You's. Mother Teresa visited our kitchen in Newark N.j.

mother teresa's love was unconditional. she attended to anyone who needed care. being a catholic religious did not stop her from taking care of those from other religious sects. she reflected Jesus in every act. may she be canonized soon.
